Purpose: Established in memory of Laura Woodman of Banquete who tragically lost her life in the spring of 1983 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Laura was an honors graduate of Banquete High School and youth rodeo star. She was Texas state senior cloverleaf barrel racing champion in 1982. She was attending South West Texas Junior College on a rodeo scholarship at the time of her death. Laura is remembered as a student and scholar with interests in higher education, the integrity of young people and Texas Youth Rodeo Association.
Eligibility: Applicants must:

  • be students who will be full-time (12 hours or more) of accredited colleges or universities located in the continental United States;
  • maintain a 2.5 GPA;
  • be members of the Texas Youth Rodeo Association – or – a graduating senior from Banquete High School
