CBCF 9 Coastal Bend Day of Giving 9 History and Media

The Coastal Bend Day of Giving was created to assist nonprofit organizations that had been severely impacted by the 2008-09 downturn in the economy. In the fall of 2009, Coastal Bend Community Foundation joined with eight additional funders to provide $150,000 in matching funds for a one-day, internet-based fundraising campaign, called the Coastal Bend Day of Giving. Due to the overwhelming success of the event – raising over $400,000 for 25 nonprofits – the event has been repeated every November since. The 14 events, each only 24 hours in duration, have raised over $28.2 million for nonprofits at the forefront of providing basic services to those in need in the Coastal Bend.

The Mission of the Foundation is to improve the quality of life in the Coastal Bend by building community endowment and addressing social, educational, environmental, and cultural needs through the awarding of grants and scholarships.

The Foundation’s Vision is to provide the Coastal Bend with:

  • Efficient gift options to meet donors’ charitable wishes
  • Effective grants to charitable organizations and scholarships to students
  • Ethical leadership to promote and enhance area philanthropy
