Nearly 60 scholarships for the fall semester were awarded by the Coastal Bend Community Foundation this month under our 2013 Special Grant Program. The “Training for the Trades” program grants scholarships of up to $1,000 per student for working students pursuing technical training in non-degreed or certificate programs. Students are Coastal Bend residents, attending one of three participating local schools (Coastal Bend College, Craft Training Center, Del Mar College). A diverse range of programs are represented, ranging from health care technologies to industrial technologies, supporting the need in the Coastal Bend for a qualified and skilled technical workforce. Scholarship awards are renewable for eligible students, and the grant program will run through the spring semester of 2014.
