Coastal Bend Community Foundation is pleased to announce the awarding of a Food Pantry Special Grant in the amount of $300,000 — $282,179 to the Coastal Bend Food Bank and $17,821 to the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent benefitting 77 food pantries in the counties of Aransas, Bee, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Nueces, Refugio, and San Patricio.

These special grants will be prorated by county based upon the number of individuals served in 2021. Last year pantries served nearly 227,000 individuals in the seven counties. Each pantry will have a credit at their respective Food Bank from which they can draw through August 21, 2022.

Since inception of the Food Pantry Special Grant in 2018, the Foundation has awarded a total of $1,030,500 serving Coastal Bend communities — $970,871 to the Coastal Bend Food Bank for pantries in Aransas, Bee, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Nueces, and San Patricio counties and $59,629 to the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent for pantries in Refugio County.
