On Wednesday, September 10, 2014, the Coastal Bend Community Foundation presented the 2014 Annual Grant checks totaling over $880,000 to 129 nonprofit agencies for programs and services in the Foundation’s seven county areas – Aransas, Bee, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Nueces, Refugio and San Patricio Counties. The checks represented grant awards through the 2014 Annual Grant cycle. Together with the $150,000 in Special Grants awarded in May, the Foundation has awarded over $1,000,000 in board-directed grants in 2014 – the most in its 33 year history.
Awards were granted to a diverse number of requests including a novel diabetes prevention and education for young children, kayaks for area state parts, a unique approach to environmental education and after-school programs in every county. The Foundation’s core areas of funding include the arts, education, environment, family, human and medical services, and public good.
