The Coastal Bend Community Foundation announces its 2010 Fall Grant cycle. Applications will be accepted from June 10 to August 25, 2010. The following guidelines are provided to assist in preparing your application:
Mandatory Eligibility Requirements:
Have federal tax-exempt status – 501(c)(3) or government/school entity applying for projects outside of basic services
Project is withinthe seven-county area of Texas served by CBCF (Aransas, Bee, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Nueces, Refugio and San Patricio counties)
Request executable in 2011
Organization must have been formed before January 1, 2008
Preferred Grant Attributes:
Promotes collaborations and partnerships with other groups
Provides access to matching funds
Implements new approaches to old problems
Focuses on proactive, preventive measures
Project has additional sources of funding
Request is more than $2,500 but does not exceed $20,000
Total award to a single organization will generally not exceed $25,000
Main Priorities:
Human services safety net (food, shelter, medical, clothing)
At risk populations (youth, elderly, family violence)
Education that promotes increased work abilities, mentoring
Additional Priorities:
Arts and culture
Animal protection
Environmental conservation
The following types of grants are not likely to be supported:
Religious activities of religious organizations
Funding for individuals, school groups or athletic teams
Travel or transportation expenses
Fundraising events/sponsorships
Office or playground equipment, unless for efficiency or safety
Capital development campaigns
Academic research without community involvement or partner

Applications may be emailed if they are scanned in two separate files: 1) the application and 2) supporting attachments. Applications postmarked or emailed after August 25, 2010 are unlikely to be considered by the Board. Applications are reviewed by the CBCF Board of Directors and approved at its November Board meeting, after which awardees are notified. Please do not call for a grant status report. If you want us to acknowledge receipt of your application, please attach a stamped, self-addressed postcard to the front of your submission. You will be contacted if additional information is needed.
