UNRESTRICTED FUNDS

POLICY STATEMENT:

Grants are made only to non-profit organizations which have federal tax-exempt status – 501 (c)(3).Grants are made only in the seven-county area of Texas served by the Coastal Bend Community Foundation, unless otherwise designated by donors. (Aransas, Bee, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Nueces, Refugio and San Patricio)

 Preference is given to:

• Grants that provide seed money for innovative and start-up programs that will generate additional future funding or revenues. Capital projects and other special projects will also receive favorable consideration. A lower priority will be given to proposals seeking operating funds.
• Grants supporting direct human services and one-time grants not requiring additional funding.
• Grants for programs having direct relevance to solving the problems or improving the quality of life in the Coastal Bend area of South Texas.
• All applicants must provide information to the Community Foundation showing that sound business procedures and proper accountability policies are defined and implemented by the managing board and employees. 
• The Board of Directors of the Coastal Bend Community Foundation must approve all grants.
• Grants are not made for religious purposes nor are they awarded to individuals, school groups or athletic teams.  Trips of any kind are not funded.
• Grants are not made to federal, state, county or municipal governments or school districts.

 WHEN SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION, REMEMBER THE FOLLOWING:

Ø      Do not change the format of the Grant Cover Form

Ø      Do not use an old Grant Cover Form from a previous year

Ø      Do not use staples in your application

Ø      Do not use three ring binders or other binding materials

Ø      Do not send CDs or discs of any kind

Ø      Do not send your application by Certified or Return Receipt Mail

Ø      Do not call for a grant status report.  You will be notified if additional information is needed.
