Purpose: Established by the family in honor of their daughter, Ann Jordan Gartner, who died suddenly on November 8, 2008.  Ann was a graduate of Rice University (B.S., ’83) and later received an M.A. from Texas A&M Corpus Christi.  After 10 years as a process engineer with DuPont and Hoechst Celanese, she returned to the classroom as a gifted chemistry and physics teacher.  She loved the sciences, the world around her, and teaching young people.  She wanted all of her students to be as excited and awed by science as she was.

Eligibility: Applicants must:

• be a graduating senior at AC Jones High School;
• maintain a GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and;
• enroll fulltime (12 semster hours) in an accredited college or university in the United States.
