EIDSON - JOHN R. EIDSON JR. '38 SCHOLARSHIP
Purpose: | Established by Govind and Bhakti Nadkarni in honor of John R. Eidson, Jr., a civil engineer who worked in Corpus Christi for most of his 48-year career. Mr. Eidson is known for his work in highway, bridge, marine and waterfront design and construction and design of military installations. He was honored as Engineer of the Year in 1980 by the Nueces Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers and was a member of Tau Beta Pi. Mr. Eidson served as an engineer in the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II and the Korean War. | Amount: | $1,000/one available (This scholarship is renewable.) | Eligibility: | Preference will be given to students from the Coastal Bend,* specifically from the counties of Nueces, Refugio and San Patricio or, where appropriate, students of Asian and/or East Indian heritage. Applicants must: - be in good standing with the Civil Engineering Department;
- be a sophomore or higher;
- have exhibited academic potential;
- participate in professional and social societies;
- maintain full-time status and a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and;
- demonstrate financial need.
